The Links page on a web site goes back to the earliest days of the internet. Over the years it’s grown out of fashion, but I don’t give a fuck. I dig the Links page. You can discover all sorts of cool shit that you never knew existed. As of today, this picture represents all of the amazing artists and brands that are linked to here on Doom Cycle. This list continues to grow all the time, so make sure you check back every once in awhile to see what’s up. If you haven’t checked out some of these sites before you’re in for a real treat. Prepare to have your head blown!
For the second annual Rusty Gold Swap Meet in Amsterdam, artist Lennard Schuurmans created this awesome poster for the event. Schuurmans resides in the Netherlands, and is one of the dudes behind the Bubble Visor blog and the Barn Fresh Company.
His style is reminiscent of the work being done in animation back in the forties and fifties, particularly that of artist Mary Blair, who’s flat abstract style guided the direction of many projects over at the Walt Disney Studios. Schuurmans’ appreciation for mid-twentieth century design often finds it’s way into his work, whether it’s his love for art deco, fifties furniture, vintage tattoos, or psychedelia.
Just as many people in the motorcycle scene today look to the past for ideas that will help shape it’s future, Lennard Schuurmans combines elements from the past with new ideas, presenting a fresh context within his work.
