Death Science’s “Trike Bride” T-shirt

December 8, 2013 by Tim Granda

TRIKE_mock

DC-tiny-wedge If you haven’t grabbed one of these killer shirts from Death Science you better hurry! It sounds like there’s only a few left, and who knows if they plan another run anytime soon. The artwork is by the awesome Phil Guy, the man who has done a lot of iconic stuff for Show Class Magazine. You’d be surprised at how much of his work you’re already familiar with. The dude rocks!

Stay tuned to Doom Cycle next week, when I’ll have the honor of presenting to you my interview with the man himself… Phil Guy!

Swing You Sinners – Shawn Dickinson exhibit

December 8, 2013 by Tim Granda

DC-tiny-wedge If you happen to be near Burbank, CA during the month of April, Shawn Dickinson is having his first solo exhibit – “Swing you Sinners” – at the Hyaena Gallery: 1928 W. Olive Ave. The opening reception is on Saturday, April 6th (8PM til midnight), which features booze and fancy-ass hors d’oeuvres for all who attend, and a chance to meet Shawn himself!

Original art will be for sale, along with signed art prints and comic books. It would make a great destination for a ride!

Frazetta Friday – Ep. 4

December 7, 2013 by Tim Granda

DC-tiny-wedge Back in 2003, Frank Frazetta teamed up with Albion Armorers to bring a selection of his iconic weapons and helms to life. The stuff was all made by hand and limited to 1,000 pieces each. They did some incredible work! In a letter to them, Frazetta spoke about the use of exaggeration in his paintings:

“I see things as they exist, but I paint them from the image they have left on my mind rather than how they appear in reality. If you really examine your fears, you realize how out of proportion they are. Your mind’s eye constantly paints pictures far in excess of what’s real. I try to capture those images in my work. I’m dealing with the emotion of fear and not the anatomical proportions of the weapon. A sword can kill, and I will exaggerate those qualities of a sword that will emphasize its ability to kill. The size, the hardness, the coldness of the metal, the point, and the sharpened edge – whatever it takes to spell out the emotion the best.”
