For the cover of their October 1976 issue, Choppers Magazine featured the all-girl group The Runaways, who had just released their killer debut album back in June. According to bassist Jackie Fox, the photographer wanted to shoot the two blondes on the bike, so drummer Sandy West hopped on and vocalist Cherie Currie straddled her shoulders. This classic shot was taken on a sweltering highway in Los Angeles, but remains one of the coolest covers ever!
Spent the evening putting together this collage for the site’s background. Here’s what it looks like before I tone it down. The idea behind it was to show how today’s scene is built upon the past. It would make a pretty cool desktop, no?
