For the second annual Rusty Gold Swap Meet in Amsterdam, artist Lennard Schuurmans created this awesome poster for the event. Schuurmans resides in the Netherlands, and is one of the dudes behind the Bubble Visor blog and the Barn Fresh Company.
His style is reminiscent of the work being done in animation back in the forties and fifties, particularly that of artist Mary Blair, who’s flat abstract style guided the direction of many projects over at the Walt Disney Studios. Schuurmans’ appreciation for mid-twentieth century design often finds it’s way into his work, whether it’s his love for art deco, fifties furniture, vintage tattoos, or psychedelia.
Just as many people in the motorcycle scene today look to the past for ideas that will help shape it’s future, Lennard Schuurmans combines elements from the past with new ideas, presenting a fresh context within his work.
